Description
    "Dyed ground" (jizomari 地染). The tie-dye (shibori 絞り) pattern kanoko 鹿の子 similizes the white spots of deer calf (ka 鹿 = deer; ko 子 = kid). Stencils for komon 小 紋 ("fine pattern") are mostly made in the drill cutting technic. The pattern of komon is not oriented in a specific direction and is so fine that it appears monochrome from a distance.
