It was only a short time ago that restorers at the University of Applied Arts Vienna discovered the signature of the Viennese bronze caster Johann Georg Danninger on the table’s foot. The design is based on a table in Recueil de décoration intérieure concernant tout ce qui rapporte à l’ameublement by the French architects Charles Percier and Pierre François Léonard Fontaine, a book of exemplars published in Paris in 1812.
