  • Fragment, Saint Francis Deruta, c1500–1525 MAK, KE 6409 Hauptinventar no. 24677r Bought with other maiolica fragments from Dr Ludwig Pollak (classical archaeologist and antiquities dealer, 1868–1943), 1916 Reported by Pollak to have been part of a group of fragments (KE 6406-6412) excavated shortly before the outbreak of of World War I in a building by the canal in the Via della Consolazione, Rome (information from Walther Merk) Tin-glazed on the front; a translucent lead glaze on the back; golden-brown lustre.
