Description
-
Spittoons may run contrary to our contemporary notions of hygiene and aesthetics, yet in the Biedermeier period they were common items of furniture. For the most part, they were carefully executed, sculpted objects fitted with a metal insert. The corresponding design sheets for “Spuckkastel” (spittoons) from the MAK Works on Paper Collection verify the connection of these two spittoons to the Danhauser furniture factory.
