Princess Sotoori - Lovely portrait of the famous 5th century beauty, Princess Sotoori, who was known for her poetry and later became one of the Three Gods of Poems. According to legend, she saw a spider and was inspired by it to write a poem about her husband coming to visit her, which reads:
The spider is busy with her web
as though she too were getting ready
for a caller this evening."
She looks over her shoulder with a sweet smile as she runs her fingers through her long hair, which falls over her shoulders and reaches almost to the floor. The white background features delicate allover cloth embossing. A charming and rarely seen design from this fine series.
