Description
Koloman Moser’s glass designs—which he created between 1899, after he was appointed professor of decorative painting at the Vienna School of Arts and Crafts, and 1903, the year of the founding of the Wiener Werkstätte—are impressive testaments to his development as an applied artist. Moser worked with his students on serial products with new forms and decorations for companies such as the glass manufacturer E. Bakalowits & Söhne. In 1899 he created the mold-blown crystal service No. 100A for Bakalowits. The outlines Moser chose for the glasses as well as their bubble-like decoration, which is pressed into the sides, show his interest in plants as a source of inspiration as he sought to lend new forms to everyday objects. (Franz, Rainald)
