Description

An étagère with an unusual design and imaginative ornamentation: the partly painted, engraved, and inlaid decorations on the sides comprise two lyres, profiles of heads, Egyptianesque caryatids with scaled legs, and depictions of barrels, as well as measures of angles and capacity. The date MDCCCVII and the not unambiguous name BENEDICT are—much like the decorations on the edges of the three panels—inlaid with white paste.
