"White ground" (jishiro 地白), possibly a part of a set (hazure はずれ). Treasures, e.g.: shippō 七宝 ("seven treasures"), tsutsumamori 筒守 (caskets for picture scrolls, often lying crossed over each other, also knwon as gion mamori 祇園守), chōji 丁字 (cloves) which serve as medicine or color, or fragrance and oil.
Fundō tsunagi 分銅繋ぎ (net pattern in the shape of fundō 分銅 (Jap. weight)): due to the unusual shape of the fundō, which is composed to a net pattern form, the pattern fundō tsunagi 分銅繋ぎ is said to have been quite popular.
The Chinese phoenix is a mythical creature with plumage in five colours, combining the characteristics of the qilin, deer, snake, fish, turtle, swallow and chicken. As a divine being who only appears in times of peace and prosperity, he has become a symbol of good fortune in various Asian cultures throughout history. The phoenix motif was likely introduced to Japan during the Asuka period (7th century). It represents happiness, peace, and prosperity, as well as marital harmony and immortality.
