ELSE BIRNBACHER [Elise Andrea Helene]
Kunsthandwerkerin, Textilkünstlerin, *30.4.1885 Graz, †17.2.1974 Pertlstein-Fehring; röm.-kath. – Tochter von Alois B. (1849–1915), Professor der Augenheilkunde, und Helene, geb. Edle von Stähling (1859– 1923). Besuch der Staatsgewerbeschule in Graz. 1908–14 Studium an der KGS, u.a. bei Leopoldine Guttmann (Gobelin-Webkurs), Rudolf v. Larisch (FK Schrift und Heraldik), Josef Hoffmann (FK Architektur) und Rosalia Rothansl (Werkstätte Textilarbeiten). Lebte zuletzt als Ordensfrau im Benediktinerinnenkloster St. Gabriel in Pertlstein.
Für die WW entwarf Else Birnbacher 1916 eine Puppenküche, die von der Fachschule Grulich 14-mal ausgeführt wurde.

Attended the national trade school in Graz. 1908–14, studied at the KGS and attended classes by Leopoldine Guttmann (tapestry weaving course), Rudolf v. Larisch (FK writing and heraldry), Josef Hoffmann (FK architecture), and Rosalia Rothansl (workshop textile works), among others. Last lived as a nun in the Benedictine convent of St. Gabriel in Pertlstein, Styria. For the WW, else birnbacher designed a doll’s kitchen in 1916, which was constructed 14 times by the Fachschule Grulich.
